Mef & Angela

They met by accident some 16 years ago, launched a successful career with The Partners, and later pursued projects on their own. But through it all, Mef Gannon and Angela Adams remained friends, often taking the stage together when one or the other was headlining a venue.

Their longtime fans cherished those moments, a bit of nostalgia when the two would sing a few tunes together.

Those moments will now occur much more regularly. Mef and Angela decided in early 2007 to once again perform together, this time as an acoustic act – just the two of them.

“We have always remained close,” said Angela. “But we are both musical artists and felt that we had to experience other journeys. We’ve come full circle, I guess. Now it’s time for us to get back into the groove.”

“Timing is everything,” added Mef. “And the time is right for the two of us. It’s going to be a lot of fun for us, and the audience.”

Their musical relationship started innocently enough. In 1991 Mef and Angela were individually summoned to Mixolydian Studios, separately, to record background vocals for a CD. They hit it off right away. Soon after, they formed the one-two punch for The Partners, a Beatles and blues inspired pop quintet.

Through 4 CDs, The Partners featured the unique harmonies and power vocals of the fem-fabuloso. The Partners shared the stage with Buster Poindexter, Maria Muldaur, Aztec Two-Step and many others.  They performed in venues such as the Sine Club in New York City, Morristown’s Community Theatre and The Stanhope House.  For eight years and critical acclaim as New Jersey’s best vocal pop band, the band was a favorite throughout the tri-state area. But then it was time to move on and the two women ventured out on their own solo careers. Mef Gannon and the Mercury Blues Band unleashed a mix of originals and sassy cover tunes. Angela continued her work with The Partners’ drummer and bassist, exploring a wide range of cover tunes.

As an acoustic duo, they will unite Mef’s bluesy power and Angela’s passionate twang with magical result; anyone who has seen them knows it. The performances are witty, touching and very personal.  Their sound, as written by one critic, "…harkens a meeting of Bonnie Raitt and Natalie Merchant."  Their song list ranges from upbeat power pop/folk to soul-searching ballads to female angst …growl.
